Hot Honey Tofu

Hot Honey Tofu is a Honey House special! Crispy tofu bites coated in a sweet and spicy honey glaze, topped with toasted sesame and fresh spring onions.

Ingredients:

  • 300g firm tofu

  • 3 tbsp cornflour

  • 1 tbsp tamari (or soy sauce)

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 fresh red chilli, finely chopped

  • Coconut or olive oil, for frying

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Tofu: Pat the tofu dry to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 5cm cubes.

  2. Season & Coat: In a mixing bowl, coat the tofu cubes with cornflour, tamari, grated ginger, and chopped red chilli, ensuring each piece is well covered.

  3. Fry the Tofu: In a large pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. When it begins to sizzle, carefully add the tofu cubes. Fry until golden and crispy, turning to char each side, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and let drain on a paper towel.

  4. Make the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, warm the honey and chili flakes over low heat until it begins to bubble. Remove from heat immediately to preserve its smooth texture.

  5. Assemble & Serve: Arrange the crispy tofu on a serving plate and drizzle the hot honey sauce over the top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with fresh spring onions.
